Slow Connection Speed
Many different factors can contribute to network speed. These are the top reasons for a slow network connection:
- Check your port status and bandwidth balance to see if you are on the 1st-Class network or have exceeded your bandwidth for the week and have been placed on the 2nd-Class network. If you are on the 2nd-Class network, your connection to off-campus networks will be slower.
- Try restarting your machine. Sometimes, an apparent network problem can actually be caused by a lack of available system memory. Some programs "leak" memory, and the only way to clear the memory is to restart your system.
- Visit the ITS Web site Service Alerts to see if a network interruption exists.
If your connection speed is still slow, please contact the ITS Help Desk.
