Cancellation Policy
By subscribing to Resnet, you are entering a contractual obligation with The University of Texas at Austin and Information Technology Services (ITS). Termination of service due to extenuating circumstances or departure from the university will be granted without penalty upon the receipt of a written request to ITS Accounting .
Cancellation Fee
Pre-Registration subscribers may cancel their subscription within the first week of moving in and receive a full refund with no cancellation fee. After that time, Pre-Registration subscribers may not cancel their subscription except in cases of extenuating circumstances.
Onsite subscribers who cancel their subscriptions receive a full refund for unused service, less a $10 cancellation fee. Resnet service charges are calculated on a daily basis.
Port deactivation requests take effect at approximately midnight each night. You will be charged for the day you cancel.
Grace Period
If you choose to cancel your subscription, you have 48 hours to re-subscribe without penalty.
Please note:
- Your port is inactive during this time.
- If you re-subscribe within 48 hours, your service will be re-instated without penalty.
- If you re-subscribe within 48 hours, your bandwidth allocation will pick up exactly where it left off when you unsubscribed, and your Resnet bill will not reflect any change in service.
Cut-Off Date
As the semester draws near the end, students frequently cancel their service a week or a few days before the subscription ends. Since Resnet charges are calculated on a daily basis, a cut-off date exists towards the end of the semester where if your refund is less than $10, we will keep it as a penalty for canceling service early, but you will not be charged the full $10 cancellation fee.
For your protection, it is strongly recommended that you cancel your service if you are leaving campus before the end of the subscription period. This ensures that your port is disabled and prevents your roommate or somebody else from using your port in your name. Remember, you are responsible for all activity on your port.
Extenuating Circumstances
Extenuating circumstances involve an official status change at the University of Texas at Austin, such as, but not limited to, official withdrawal, official leave of absence, medical leave, or death and bereavement. Extenuating circumstances are handled on a case by case basis. Please contact the ITS Help Desk if you fall into this category.
