Wired or Wireless?
With Resnet, you can choose to use a wired or wireless connection in your dorm room.
Wired connections:
- are faster and more reliable, especially if you're gaming or watching streaming video, BUT
- someone else can plug their computer into your wired port and use your bandwidth, unless you turn off your port while you're away.
Wireless connections:
- can be slower and less reliable, BUT
- you don't run the risk of having someone using your bandwidth, AND
- you can take your computer anywhere in your residence hall and have Internet access.
If you choose Wireless Resnet Only, then you can only access the Internet wirelessly in your residence hall.
If you choose any of the Wired Resnet options, you will also get Wireless Resnet.
