Subscription Options
You have two choices when signing up for Resnet:
- Pre-registration signup is for dorm residents who signed a Housing and Food contract in the spring or early summer. Subscribers can choose to increase their subscription level from Tier 1 and pay for it using scholarship money, or a loan or grant.
- On-site signup is for dorm residents who did not sign up by the pre-registration deadline. Subscribers will automatically receive a Tier 1 subscription.
Once you get to campus and check-in to your dorm room, you should already be subscribed to your base tier. Please check your subscription and make sure you have the right subscription for your Internet usage habits. Subscriptions are based on the amount of bandwidth used in a week. You will also need to specify whether you want to use wired Resnet, wireless Resnet, or both. Wired connections are faster and reliable, but there's the chance that someone else might plug their computer into your port and use your bandwidth. You don't run that risk if you only use wireless Resnet, but your connection might be slower. On the other hand, with wireless Resnet, you can easily take your laptop anywhere in your residence hall and have Internet access.
